Wave Turbine Syndrome Scares Everyone

Opposition to new wave power technology planned for deployment on Australia’s south coast has raised its furrowed brow, after the announcement that the “scary machine” had been constructed and would be installed in coming months. A grassroots group known as ‘SeaFloor Guardians’ was hastily registered for tax evasion purposes on Monday, funded by generous donations from a consortium of coal companies.  Group spokesperson, Dr. Lara Worry, said that there needed to be at least 50 years of research into the health impacts of wave energy before they could support the project.  “We just don’t know what these machines will do.  My … Continue reading Wave Turbine Syndrome Scares Everyone

Redneck Holy Grail

Geneticists have declared Australia is the ‘Holy Grail’ for selective genetic technology that might actually prove useful, in a report issued by the illustrious, but otherwise useless, medical journal Genetics ‘r Us. Struggling for many years to find an application for genetic technology that serves more purpose than growing a human ear on the back of a mouse, or pumping out clones of a stupid sheep, the international geneticist fraternity/sorority has decided to apply their splicing skills to locating and removing the gene that makes many people stupid. In pursuit of this lofty aim, geneticists have decided to focus their research … Continue reading Redneck Holy Grail

Birthdays For Dead People

I find it bizarre that we ‘celebrate’ the birthdays of assassinated or otherwise deceased notable figures of recent history, rather than the assassination/death date. Yesterday (May 19) was Malcolm X Day.  Great.  That’s the day he was born.  But he was killed on February 21, torn open by 21 lumps of lead.  Why isn’t the observance day February 21? Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is another one – celebrated around MLK’s birthday (January 15).  Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to ‘celebrate’ the life of MLK on April 4, the day he was murdered? Hasn’t their life had more of an impact … Continue reading Birthdays For Dead People

Free West Papua

Australia’s closest geographical neighbour is the world’s second-largest island, New Guinea.  The eastern half of this island is the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, and the western half is West Papua, now consisting of two Indonesian provinces. In 1975, Papua New Guinea was declared independent after decades of overlapping German, British, and Australian administration, and the post-war union of the Papua and New Guinea territories in 1949. In the same year, The Dutch attempted to leave behind an independent West Papuan nation when departing the region after 149 years of colonial rule.  Indonesia, however, claimed rights of sovereignty over West … Continue reading Free West Papua

MH370 AND JINDALEE (WHISTLEBLOWER)

Originally posted on theylietousall:
When MH370 was in the air just over 12 months ago, I heard reports saying that it had headed south into the Indian Ocean airspace. My immediate reaction was one of relief. I knew that Jindallee – the over the horizon radar system developed by Australians and funded by taxpayers – would have no problem locating it. Jindalee exists to provide an early warning system to protect Australia’s west coast. Given the current height of tension in regard to the problems in the Middle East and Afghanistan, and Australia’s role, it was obvious that if any… Continue reading MH370 AND JINDALEE (WHISTLEBLOWER)
